Cambodia: Kompong Phhluk

Our last day of vacation. The plane left Siem Reap late in the evening, so we had the day to play. A bit templed out, we decided to visit the stilt village of Kompong Phhluk and our guide set things up for us. We took the car to a dock (a loose term, that), a powered longboat to near the water forest, then did an on-water transfer to a small boat for a trip through the forest and the village. This was fun. If we ever go back, and we'd certainly like to, we'd bring swimsuits and a picnic and spend a lazy morning on a small boat in the water forest.

The water forest of Kompong Phhluk. It's here we'd love to spend the morning swimming, snacking and lazing. This is the woman who offered us the small-boat ride. We were in the long boat, and as our guide was explaining that that boat was too large to go into the forest, she paddled alongside us and offered us a ride through the water forest for $5. We climbed aboard, one of the best $5 we've spent.
